Questions are good things. They are there to get to know others and to find the common ground with each other, with the people we want to love. Well, I would think that the biggest thing I need to learn is to love myself. I think at least. I like lists, I make lists, mainly about anime and manga that I want to read and watch. And sometimes about American books too. My life does revolve around things that I consume. And I do not know if I am fine with that. I would like to fancy myself that I like philosophy, but in truth, I like the idea of philosophy. In the sense, philosophy means the love of knowledge, because we cannot know everything. So we need to start with things that we do not know, even though there are many famous figures in philosophy, I do not want to read from them. Because the biggest thing that I do not know if myself. And, as I am right now, I am more interested in filling the emptiness in me, if that makes sense. But I like questions. So, I went out and looked for que...
Score: 8/10
The beginning is really good, there is this subversion to the usual pretty young woman ending up in a world with superpowers and ending up saving the world. Satoki is a plain-looking girl, not really protagonist material and she never changes that much throughout the story in appearance. Satoki ends up with the power of the Holy Maiden, being able to materialize while everyone believes that it is her pretty companion, Haruka Toudou who is seeming without magic. [Spoiler: The twist in the story is that Toudou has magic too, just her imagination, that is needed to create the magic is really bad. She can use other people's imagination so she subconsciously channels Satoki's magic.]
The manga is written and drawn by Geni Yuu, serialized by Zero-Sum Online between 2013 and 2014, consisting of only two volumes.
The enjoyment of this manga, while reading is good, even though there are parts towards the end where I thought I won't finish it.
The art is good, the backgrounds look fine, even though there is a little blandness to it, compared to the character designs. I don't say that the characters stand out, but they are unique enough.
Sadly there are a lot of characters dropped from the story and you kind of know who is more important in the narrative after a while. Satoki is the main character and we only see things from her perspective, her understanding of the genre leads to enjoyable funny scenes as she is trying to remain in the background and full around. This is sadly dropped in the second volume. Satoki's character is funny and can carry the whole story, and it is the main selling point. "Satoki does not mind being a bystander, concealing the truth from everyone—even Haruka. Believing herself unworthy, Satoki will do whatever it takes to make Haruka appear to be the savior the world has always wanted." - MyAnimeList.com
With its two volumes, it's a really fast read, and I can say, to those who don't really like the usual tropes in these kinds of stories, then you can enjoy something light that breaks a few conventions.
Trivial: [1.][Spolier: Towards the end, it turns out that Satoki's powers are going to run out. She ends up disappearing from the world, and there is this strange feeling to it, with an abrupt ending that almost says that everything that happened was a dream and didn't happen in reality.]
[2.] My favorite part of it is actually how Satoki ends up fangirling over the cheesy elements of the world and the beautiful people that are surrounding her, a plain everyday person. She doesn't get involved or fall in love with anyone, so that is a subversion of the usual. [Spoiler: Maybe Satoki doesn't fall in love, but I have the headcanon that Miwa, another character, a magician dealing with black magic does fall in love with her. Seeing that he is the only one Satoki can really rely on, and he is the one who figures out what is going on with Satoki.]
