Questions are good things. They are there to get to know others and to find the common ground with each other, with the people we want to love. Well, I would think that the biggest thing I need to learn is to love myself. I think at least. I like lists, I make lists, mainly about anime and manga that I want to read and watch. And sometimes about American books too. My life does revolve around things that I consume. And I do not know if I am fine with that. I would like to fancy myself that I like philosophy, but in truth, I like the idea of philosophy. In the sense, philosophy means the love of knowledge, because we cannot know everything. So we need to start with things that we do not know, even though there are many famous figures in philosophy, I do not want to read from them. Because the biggest thing that I do not know if myself. And, as I am right now, I am more interested in filling the emptiness in me, if that makes sense. But I like questions. So, I went out and looked for que...

The Eyes of Sora - Chapter review [17-21] "All talk, no action"

Continuation of the chapter review. This is turning into quite the reading journal. [Part 1.] https://runawaysdaydreams.blogspot.com/2020/02/the-eyes-of-sora-chapter-review-1-6.html [Part 2.] https://runawaysdaydreams.blogspot.com/2020/03/the-eyes-of-sora-chapter-review-7-16-i.html Sadly as we go further, the more confusing things are getting. The author doesn't need to hold your hands, but there are problems when you are getting lost in the sea of explanations and info-dumping. The problem is that everyone here seemingly knows everything and the one who doesn't, meaning Kanghee, who is trying to uncover things is getting the least of the screen time. Because of this, when it comes to the supernatural we, the audience can't really fall in the same step with Sora. Interestingly, now that I think about it Mushishi had done this a little bit better. There we had followed Ginko, he knew everything but us, the audience wasn't lost. We weren't really held by the hand an...

Chichi to Hige Gorira to Watashi - manga review "Happily crying"

Score: 10/10 This story is not really for everyone, mainly because it is a slice of life story, full of funny little moments and it is not that dramatic. The drama is well balanced out with the comedy element making the characters sympathetic and nice. The story is not without its flaws, there are some things that I can't stand in it, however, these things are something that is never like in anything so I rarely take away points from a story for including these things. These are the implication that your happily ever after comes with marriage, however, this is how the characters are set up from day one, so I kind of saw it coming. Here, I can imagine that marriage is these characters happy ever after, and not something that is made into a universal truth. The characters are strongly written in that sense. "After losing her mother to a traffic accident, 5-year old tomboy Michiru finds a "suspicious person" moving into her home: her father's younger brother Kouji, ...

Lock You Up - [Chapter review][1-9] "A real slow burn"

"Ordinary high school student Lu Qing Yu and the elegant university teaching assistant, Cheng Jing. Their encounters were definitely not by chance or just a coincidence. Due to their previous generation's old grudges and grievances had made them unable to live tranquility and peacefully. He, who took great pains and had ransacked his brain over trying to make the star fall from the sky, but was enthralled and mesmerized by the star instead; The other him who was ignorant, trusted him wholeheartedly and faithfully, staying completely oblivious to the fact that this was all just a trap meticulously and carefully designed especially for him..." - mangaupdates.com This manhua is still currently being translated, so I thought about doing some chapter reviews as I catch up with it. As I experienced it, it is a fast read and the plot doesn't pull any punches. Originally it is already completed with 93 chapters. The creators to Lock You Up are 2y and Wei Lan Shen Ye, who are ...

Modern Wizard Hunting Project - Chapter Review [1-5]

Modern Wizard Hunting Project was written by Luma and drawn by Xiyuer and it is an ongoing modern fantasy. There is little information that can be found about it as of now. "As a witch (male), our protagonist has lived for 168 years and chosen to remain far away from the humans, living on his own until now. Of course, he has never started a romantic relationship, but one day, a super handsome golden-haired male came to his workplace and randomly started to court him! How should this gloomy little wizard react?" - description from mangaupdate.com The art is fantastic, it is cute and beautiful! I can recommend it if you want to read about something nice and beautiful, the character designs are more on the bishounen side of things. It is more on the brighter side, it does surprise me how the coloring of these web manhuas' and manhwas' can use super bright colors. Sometimes the expressions can look strange, but for me, it is easy to get over it. This is definitely not a d...

The Eyes of Sora - Chapter review [7-16]: "I am confused..."

Continuation of The Eyes of Sora reading that I am doing. This story is starting to turn out like a real slow burn. There is shounen-ai promised, but it is nowhere in sight right now. There are other elements like drama and tragedy that come in, the other genres that this is in and you can see it more rather than the shounen-ai aspect of it. There are some problems with understanding what is going on or how the writer leads the story. You kind of feel lost, but it is starting to build up towards something big. Score: 7/10 [Part 1.] https://runawaysdaydreams.blogspot.com/2020/02/the-eyes-of-sora-chapter-review-1-6.html Chapter 7 + 8 + 9: They are again talking about this idea that Sora's eyes see more and are special. Because of that, he will have more problems with the spirits. Jeongha doesn't want Sora doing anything behind his back, but Sora still decides to help Kanghee's friend. The chapters start to get a little bit tedious to read. Honestly, I am more interested in Je...

0/6 - Review on the go! [+18 nudity and well, it's ecchi...]

0/6 by Lee You Jung is an insane ride from the first glance. I haven't even started the second chapter properly and there is already a German teacher who is dressed and acts like Hitler. I decided that this story deserves more review as we go style to it. Score: 8/10 This a five-volume manga that was published in 2006. "0/6 was published in English by Net Comics; physically from January 25, 2005, to March 6, 2007, and digitally on February 8, 2015." -myanimelist.com "Originally published in Korean by Seoul Munhwasa (Seoul Cultural)." -myanimelist.com The story of 0/6 is a little bit convoluted and doesn't really follow a clear structure that usually other stories do. But that is something that is its strength. The humor is nice, the art style variates between interesting, detailed and downright ugly, but that is on purpose. Some of the backgrounds are the combinations of drawings and photos that give a strange comedic atmosphere to the whole manga. The chara...

The Eyes of Sora - Chapter review [1-6]

The Eyes of Sora or Sora's Eyes is a manhwa made by Summer and was published on Lezhin in 2015. In its original language, it already concluded, but it is currently being translated. The premiss of the manhwa is interesting: "When Jeongha, the temperamental young son of a wealthy businessman was suddenly stricken down with a mysterious illness, his father scrambled to look for a cure. But the debilitating affliction persisted. Desperate and out of option, the father sought out help from a temple up on a misty mountain to save the life of his only son." - mangaupdates.com The art style is really interesting, it has this sketchy style that looks almost half-finished but it makes it looks easy and light. It brings a nice atmosphere to the entire piece. It looks something really promising. I will be reviewing it chapter by chapter since it is still being translated to English, but if you understand Korean, then you should check Summer out on Lezhin. Chapter 1: And the first c...

"Bungaku Shoujo" Memoire - Review

Score: 9/10 "Bungaku Shoujo" Memoire is a three-part OVA, that depicts the characters before the movie had taken place.  This was needed since the movie adapted almost the middle section of the light novel series. It was made by Production I.G, has the average length of an anime episode. Director: Tada Shunsuke. Producer: Kuroki Rui. Sound director: Nakajima Toshihiko. It is not needed to watch to enjoy the movie, but it gives context to a lot of things that the movie didn't have time to get to. It does carry the same atmosphere as the other OVA does, more light-hearted but it has narrative value as well. It can come out as filler, however, I had never had any problems with filler content. "Prelude of the Girl Who Gazes into Dreams — Amano Tooko is a high school student with the strange power of being able to experience books by savoring them. While visiting the workplace of her deceased father, she stumbles upon the rejected drafts for a writing contest. One of them...

"Aoi" Hikaru ga Chikyuu ni Ita Koro...... - Review

The quasi-delinquent Akagi Koremitsu ends up being haunted by a schoolmate of his, Mikado Hikaru he is stopped into fulfilling one last promise that Hikaru had made. Otherwise, Hikaru's spirit can't rest in peace. However, Saotome Aoi is mad at Hikaru and wouldn't have anything to do with the feared Koremitsu. I decided to write my thought as I go in reading the manga since even though I find it decent I don't have much hope to it being something that would impress me too much. The art of the manga is beautiful and simplistic. Here I mostly mean the characters, the two leads, Koremitsu and Hikaru are complete opposites of each other and that is shown nicely in the rendering of the characters. The background is something that should have gotten a little bit more polishing, it is boring to look at but helps to make the characters pop out more. However, this runs the risk of the arts seemingly being uninspired and hard to remember. It is interesting. You can skip ahead pas...

"Bungaku Shoujo" Movie - Review

Score: 9/10 The review contains spoilers. "Bungaku Shoujo" Movie, is the movie adaptation from Production I.G, directed and storyboarded by Tada Shunsuke. This movie adapted the fifth volume of the light novel series: "Bungaku Shoujo" to Doukoku no Palmier according to myanimelist. The series of "Bungaku Shoujo" is broader, having a long-running light novel series and a manga series written by Nomura Mizuki. That saying, this movie is an adaptation of a smart part of a larger story and a lot of things can be explained away with that. However, I don't think that it will take away from the enjoyment of the adaptation to people who had read the original. Tada Shunsuke had directed World Destruction: Sekai Bokumetsu no Rokunin, an anime that I had watched with the English dub, but one that I hadn't regretted it. This was a pleasant surprise for me since I will definitely talk about that series too in a positive note. This means that as a director Tada ...

"Gokko" - review...

Another review as we go, I will possibly spoil somethings for you. This one is short. Fuyuko can't get rid of Sawai who wouldn't leave her apartment, but he claims to be his long lost brother. Fuyuko doesn't believe this, but since she is learning to be an actress, she agrees to play along with him and play make-believe with him. [Spoiler: We never really get to know if the two of them are siblings or not. This is not really an insta-romance since they spend quite a time with each other. It is also implied that Sawai is just using Fuyuko to stay so he could write his scrip for a competition, I don't know, this is strange.] In the next story featuring Suzuki Hana, a well-known singer who starts working on the radio as an assistant and co-host. I don't like this one, it gets pretty confusing pretty fast. There are two love interests, Minakami and Zen, but neither of them is that interesting. [Spoiler: I think she dates Minakami and then ends up loving Zen, but it is c...
